Why this workshop exists

Most people who want a website face the same two bad options.

Option A
Pay a developer

Thousands of pounds for a site you cannot update yourself. Every small change needs a quote and a wait.

Option A
Use a website builder

Wix, Squarespace, and their kind give you control but cap your possibilities and own your data.

There is a third way. Use Claude Code as your coding partner and build a real, professional website — in a morning. You own the code. You own the data. You can keep building yourself.

The method

Plan → Design → Code → Deploy

Four phases. Every workshop follows this structure. It means you never start from a blank screen — and you always end with something real.

01
30 min
Plan

Before a single line of code, we map your site. What pages do you need? What do you want visitors to do? What makes you different? A clear plan means Claude produces something useful rather than generic.

02
45 min
Design in Claude

Use Claude to design your layout, choose your components, and establish your brand identity — all in plain English. You see your site take shape before any code is written. No Figma. No guesswork.

03
90 min
Code

Build it, component by component, with Claude Code as your pair programmer. Tailwind CSS handles the styling. Next.js handles the structure. You handle the decisions — Claude handles the syntax.

04
30 min
Deploy

Push to GitHub, deploy to Vercel, point your domain. Your site is live before lunch. You leave with a real URL, your own repository, and the knowledge to keep building.

What you will build

A real website. Deployed. Before lunch.

Not a template. Not a mockup. A working Next.js site, deployed on Vercel, with a real URL you can share the same day.

  • Homepage with your own content and brand colours
  • About page that tells your story
  • Services or products page
  • Contact page with a working form
  • SEO-ready structure from the start
  • Fully editable — it is your code, your repo
Tech stack
Next.js
The same framework used by Vercel, Linear, and thousands of production sites. Fast, flexible, yours.
Tailwind CSS
Utility-first styling that makes customising design straightforward — no fighting with stylesheets.
Claude Code
Your AI pair programmer. Describe what you want in plain English — Claude writes the code, you make the decisions.
Vercel
One-click deployment. Free tier for personal projects. Your site is live in under 5 minutes.

This is the exact stack used to build okapiandco.co.uk. You will learn by doing, not by watching.

Is it right for you?

This workshop is deliberately small and specific.

It is a good fit if you…
  • You run a small business and want to own your website, not rent it
  • You have tried Wix or Squarespace and wanted more control
  • You are a freelancer or consultant who needs a clean, professional site
  • You are curious about AI and want to see what it can actually do
  • You want to reduce dependence on expensive developers for small changes
  • You are a marketer who wants to understand how modern websites are built
It is probably not right if you…
  • You need a complete production website for a large business — we can build that for you
  • You are looking for a general introduction to AI rather than a specific build experience
  • You do not have access to a laptop

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much coding experience do I need to attend?+
None. Claude Code does the heavy lifting. You need to be able to describe what you want clearly — that is a skill we teach in the first phase of the workshop.
What technology stack will we use?+
Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Vercel for deployment. This is the same stack used to build okapiandco.co.uk itself — it is fast, modern, and you will own your code.
Will I actually have a live website at the end of the workshop?+
Yes. That is the point. You will deploy to Vercel during the workshop and leave with a real URL you can share.
Can I keep building after the workshop?+
Absolutely. The code lives in your own GitHub repository. You can continue developing it yourself using Claude Code, or hand it to a developer.
How many people are in each workshop?+
Maximum 4. That is intentional — everyone gets individual attention and the pace can flex to the group.
Where is the workshop held?+
Shaftesbury, Dorset. The exact venue is confirmed on booking. Parking is available nearby.
Do you run online or remote sessions?+
Not currently. The in-person format is part of what makes the workshop work — being in the room with Jim and a small group accelerates learning in a way video calls cannot replicate.
What is included in the price?+
The workshop itself, lunch, all reference materials, Claude Pro access for the day, and 30 days of follow-up questions by email. The price is £347 per person, excluding VAT.
What is the Plan → Design → Code → Deploy method?+
It is a four-phase methodology for building websites with AI. Phase 1 (Plan) defines the site structure before touching any code. Phase 2 (Design in Claude) uses Claude to generate layouts and components visually. Phase 3 (Code) builds the site with Claude Code as a pair programmer. Phase 4 (Deploy) pushes the site live to Vercel. The method means you never start from a blank screen.
