Scheduled tasks in Claude: how one client saves hours every week

Have you tried scheduled tasks in Claude? If not, here's a real example of how we use one for a client.

An hour before our weekly meeting, Claude gets to work. It has permission to go and research the hospitality industry, our client's sector, and pull together what has changed.

It also checks the previous week's report first. That way it does not repeat itself. In summer, when there is less industry news, Claude marks each item as "new" or "repeat" on the one page document it produces. That way we know at a glance what actually matters this week.

Setting it up took a bit of thought. We connected a Google Drive folder so Claude could store past versions of the report and refer back to them. Once that was done, the task runs on its own, every week, for good.

The result: research that used to take a few hours now takes a couple of minutes, and the client gets a clean, branded document every time.

We will walk through how to set up a skill like this in a future post.
